Such a grey, depressing morning. Torrents of rain thundering down. Mind you, we need it. Lawn was beginning to resemble a patchwork quilt containing many, yellow regions Reminded me of what it was like to live in east of East Anglia in the 70’s.
All lawns arid and palr yellow by mid May and until October. Such a dry place.
Watch the Go Between with Julie Christie and Alan Bates. (1971) Amazing film made in north Norfolk to see the lawns of my youth.
One year we only had 15 inches of rain, the entire twelvemonth…..
River Sprite had been logged onto home schooling for an hour before I woke up today. How decadent. Well woke up v early today like 0450 hrs and lay there worrying. When will I ever dare to return to work? Send children to school? When will they ever see their friends again? Get my cataract done on increasingly worsening eye. Never as far as I can see. Just too scared of the Corona V. Only when there is a freely available vaccine will we dare to venture out or let anyone in. Tried to get on the “Oxford Trial”. But am too old at over 55 and living in wrong area. Have written to Doctor Sarah at Nuffield Institute anyway. Posted today.
Went back to sleep with pillow over my head and woke feeling .. .just worried. Took my 1950’s R J Unstead history book into River Sprite who was doing a History presentation. She scowled, snarled and said she “didn’t have enough room on her desk” and anyway the teacher had provided “something else”
Another thing to put on my headstone. Here lies (blogger) 1959 – ?) At least here, under the sod, I will never have to deal with a
grumpy, spotty, sullen teenager again.’ A repulsive and ungrateful breed.
I retreated from the Harry Potter cubby hole that is her study, completely spurned.
